“Yeazy Labels”: A Real-World Durability Test on Sliders
7 Months ago (October 25), I applied an EAZY personalised name label to the underside of my sliders—tucked neatly between the tread grooves. This test wasn't to see how the print performed, but more to see how the adhesive would perform on a low energy surface, in very demanding conditions!
Since then: with over 80 spa visits. pools, wet floors, changing rooms, saunas, steam rooms. Constant exposure to heat, moisture, and movement.
The result? Still firmly in place. ( and the strip of coloured ink we added, has only faded slightly )

Here’s what I tested, what held up, and how to get the same performance.
Why This Was a Genuine Stress Test
Footwear is one of the most demanding environments for any adhesive.
Sliders and sports sandals are typically made from low surface energy (LSE) materials—EVA, TPR, and rubber blends. These surfaces naturally resist adhesion.
Layer in:
- Water and humidity
- Heat from saunas and steam rooms
- Friction and flex
- Regular wear and scuffing
…and you’ve got a worst-case scenario for most labels.
The Approach That Worked
Instead of applying the label to a high-wear area, I placed it between two tread grooves on the sole—a small adjustment that makes a significant difference.
This positioning:
- Reduces direct friction
- Minimises shear forces (the main cause of label failure)
- Protects the edges from lifting
Combined with correct application, the bond held without issue—no peeling, no fading, no edge lift.

What Held Up—and Why
Water & Steam
The print remained sharp, and the adhesive showed no whitening or breakdown.
Heat Exposure
Repeated sauna and steam cycles didn’t compromise adhesion—proper curing and placement were key.
Movement & Flex
By positioning the label within the tread groove, shear stress was reduced, preserving the bond over time.
What This Means for Everyday Use
For shoes, trainers, and boots, extra-durable labels perform exceptionally well when applied correctly:
- Apply to clean, dry, smooth surfaces
- Choose protected areas (heel cups, flat insoles, or recessed zones)
- Allow a full 24-hour cure before heavy use or washing
For wet or high-use environments—pools, sports, changing rooms—Extra-Durable labels are the right choice. The combination of water-fast print, antibacterial coating, and extra-permanent adhesive is designed for exactly this kind of use.
Quick Do / Don’t Guide
Do
- Apply to a clean, dry, dust-free surface
- Press firmly, especially around the edges
- Allow 24 hours for full adhesion
- Use protected placement areas where possible
Don’t
- Apply to oily, dusty, or heavily textured surfaces
- Place labels in high-scuff contact zones (e.g. direct outsole contact with pavement)
- Skip curing time—this is critical to long-term performance
A Note on “Yeazy Labels”
“Yeazy Labels” is just a nickname for the sliders—no affiliation implied.
The takeaway is simple: even challenging, rubberised surfaces can work—if you apply labels with the right method.
